Building Traffic With Blog Comments

The quest of every webmaster or blogger is to try to get as much traffic visiting their site as possible. This can be achieved a number of ways but I would like to focus on commenting on other blogs. If you've never commented on another blog you could be missing out on two things; First, commenting on other blogs allows you to take part in the conversation and secondly, if the blog is a is a "do follow" blog, you will get a valuable backlink. When you comment on a blog and include your website address, when that site is crawled by the various search engines, your blog or website will receive a backlink. Now, this sounds like an amazingly easy way to obtain backlinks, but it's not that simple. If the blog owner has set their blog to "no follow", which many are, the search engines bots will not follow your website link and provide you with a backlink. You may want to do some research and find out if a blog is setup to follow links or not before commenting. The other thing that you will want to watch out for is blog spamming. Because it seems so easy to just go along and comment on tons of blogs and leave no useful information, you may be seen as a blog spammer. Make sure that you leave useful comments that add to the conversation. Also, if you leave a comment that is particularly unique or useful, many will click on your hyperlink and you will receive traffic from leaving that comment. |
